United State Junior Women's National coach and new Syracuse University head women's rowing coach Justin Moore will give fans, Alumni and friends an inside look as the U.S. Women's 8+ competes at the 2010 Junior World Championships in the Czech Republic .
Moore was named the leader of the Orange program on July 26. He takes the reins of the program as a highly-respected coach in the rowing community. Moore possesses an impressive resume from his experience as an athlete and a coach, both on the collegiate and professional level.
“We are settling into our new surroundings here in the Czech Republic. The acclamation period is going well and the athletes are adapting as would be expected,” Moore said of the Junior World Championships. “The race course is fantastic, as advertised - 7 lanes, well protected with very quiet wind conditions.
The competitors continue to arrive daily. The Aussies, Japan and New Zealanders were here when we arrived (farthest to travel). Traditional rowing powers, their crews look quite strong. Today Russia, France and the Germany arrived, making the training sessions significantly more crowded. We await the Brits and Romanians, who will complete the top teams.”
Moore, formerly the head coach at Williams College (Williamstown, Mass.), will bring a wealth of knowledge and a history of success to Syracuse. During his 11 years at Williams, he guided his team to six NCAA DIII championships (2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010). In 2010 Williams became the first DIII team to win five consecutive NCAA titles. DIII has only had an NCAA championship since 2002, giving Moore six of the possible nine titles. \
