SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse University women's ice hockey team will host College Hockey America (CHA) opponent Robert Morris for a two game series this weekend. The puck will first drop on Friday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion. Friday's game will be streamed live on Orange All-Access (OAA), SU's multimedia package, via SUathletics.com. Subscriptions are $5.95 for a game-day pass, $9.95 per month or $79.95 per year.
The Robert Morris Series
The Colonials lead the all-time series with the Orange, 4-3-1. Robert Morris won the first three meetings between the two teams during SU's inaugural season in 2008, but the Orange has skated away with a win in three out of the last four matchups.
Sizing up the Competition
Robert Morris split a two game series with Connecticut last weekend, winning 3-1 and then falling 6-2. The Colonials are led by junior forward Brianna Delaney who has a team-best 19 points on eight goals and 11 assists. Her .86 points per game are tied for ninth in the CHA. Freshman Thea Imbrogno is second in the CHA in freshman scoring, averaging .67 points per outing. Sophomore goaltender Kristen DiCiocco has a goals-against-average of 2.97, which ranks fourth in the conference, and a saves percentage of .885. Robert Morris is averaging 2.05 goals per game, while giving up 4.10 to its opponents.
A Look at the Orange
Syracuse's leading scorer, sophomore Isabel Menard will rejoin the Orange after missing the last three games while competing in the 2011 MLP Cup in Switzerland. Senior Ashley Cockell's two assists in game one at Mercyhurst on Jan. 7 made her the first player in program history to reach the 100-point mark. Her .80 points per game rank eighth in the nation and third in the CHA for points per game by a defenseman. Freshman defender Akane Hosoyamada has registered 12 points, which ranks third in rookie scoring in the CHA.
