Orange Begins Preparing for 2011 Season

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Head coach Gary Gait and the Syracuse women's lacrosse team officially began practice for the 2011 campaign on Friday, January 14. The team held two sessions on the newly installed FieldTurf in Manley Field House.
"It's just nice to get back on the field," Gait said. "We're looking forward to an exciting, fast-paced season.
The Orange is ranked No. 5 in Lacrosse Magazine's preseason poll. Syracuse returns seven starters from last year's squad that finished the season with a 15-9 record and advanced to the Final Four for the second time in three seasons. This season the Orange will face another difficult schedule, as 10 of its opponents are ranked in the preseason top 20.
Syracuse opens the season on Thursday, February 17 against Colgate in the Carrier Dome.
