BOSTON -- The Syracuse women's rowing team concluded its fall season by recording three top-five finishes at the Foot of the Charles Regatta on Saturday, Nov. 12. Two Orange crews placed in the top four of the varsity four race and SU novice eight came in fourth in its competition.
The Syracuse “B” both was the team's top finisher, placing third out of 43 entries in the featured varsity four race. The crew, made up of Allison Todd, Carmen Failla, Anna Kaszycki, Maggie McCrudden, and Rose Aschebrock finished in a time of 14:07.3. Just under a second later, the Orange “A” boat crossed the finish line in fourth with a mark of 14:08.2.
Three other Syracuse fours also competed in the race. The Orange fourth varsity four crew was 16th (14:46.3), the third varsity four finished 23rd (14:56.0) and fifth varsity four came in 39th (15:59.2).
Radcliffe won the race, clocking a time of 13:45.7. Defending national champion Brown was second (14:06.1).
In the novice eight race, Syracuse came in fourth out of 23 boats with a time of 14:12.2. Radcliffe was victorious in that event as well, posting a winning time of 13:14.3.
Both races covered a distance of 2.3 miles. Conditions on the river were good with sunny skies and a race-time temperature of 45 degrees. Winds were out of the Southwest at 13 to 15 mph.
The Orange will now break for winter training. Syracuse returns to the water on March 18 when it opens the spring season against Clemson, Indiana and Alabama in South Carolina.
