SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Like the SU women's rowing team last weekend, the Orange oarsmen will conclude the fall portion of their 2011-12 season at the Foot of the Charles Regatta. Five Syracuse crews are scheduled to be in action at the men's version of the event Saturday, Nov. 19 on the Charles River, including four in the featured varsity fours race.
Racing begins at Harvard's Newell Boathouse and ends at the same finish line as the famed Head of the Charles race, some 2.3 miles upstream. The varsity four competition is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. followed by the freshman eight race at 8:10 a.m.
The Orange's top four is made up of Jake Martens, Mike Dietrick, Mac Zink and Aidan Barrett. It will be coxed by Matt Cosmann. Three additional Orange entries join them in the field.
After the fours, Syracuse is scheduled to enter one boat in the freshman eight race.
At last year's Foot of the Charles, three SU crews placed in the top 10 of their respective races, including the Orange's top four, which earned the bronze medal.
