Rowing on Facebook
One of the advantages of being part of the Syracuse women's rowing team is having the companionship of a men's team who is ranked sixth in the country. Today was an excellent day on the water for both of Syracuse's rowing teams, since we had the opportunity to race each other. I had anticipated today's morning since the beginning of the week when Justin (Moore) told us our eights would be racing the men's fours. The competition the men bring helps push our team to be faster. This is exactly what we needed to end a solid first week on the water.
As an incoming freshman two years ago, I was in awe of the height and strength the men's team had. Today, as I sat at the start of the race and looked across the lanes to see two men's boats filled with this same height and strength, I felt so privileged to have the opportunity to be on the same racecourse with them. The excitement of racing and of all the hard work our team has put in over winter training was shown today, as all of our boats exceeded the goals set by our coaches.
