
Carlson wins Clements Internship Award

SYRACUSE – Junior rower Naomi Carlson was selected as a recipient for the Clements Internship Award which is awarded to students for the following criteria: Creativity, educational value and feasibility. Carlson, a junior public health major was awarded money to intern with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium in Alaska.
"I am very very proud to represent Syracuse University, the athletic department of SU and especially my Women's Rowing Team," said Carlson. "The Alaska bush community has serious public health needs. I am thrilled that I am able to use the money from this award to help out in this area."
Last season Carlson rowed in the 5-seat of the second varsity eight that beat Dartmouth and placed second to Radcliffe at the O'Leary Cup. She also sat in the 6-seat of the second varsity eight that placed fourth in the BIG EAST Championship and second in the third level final of the Eastern Sprints. Carlson was named BIG EAST All-Academic and SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in the spring.
