BOSTON – First-year head coach Justin Moore and the Syracuse University women's rowing team opens its spring season with the race for the Kittell Cup at Boston University on Saturday, March 26 at the DeWolfe Boathouse on the banks of the Charles River. The Orange is looking to retain the cup for the second consecutive year. Live video of the race will be available here.
The Kittell Cup goes to the winner of the annual Syracuse-Boston University varsity eight race. Donated by former SU rower Kristin Bidwell '90, the Kittell Cup is named after former associate director of athletics Janet Kittell for her support of the women's rowing program.
Both universities have won the cup four times, with SU winning in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2010. BU took home the cup in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009.
There will be four other races taking place Saturday morning, including the third varsity eight, varsity four, second varsity eight and varsity eight.
Saturday's race will also mark the first spring dual race for Moore. A six-time NCAA Champion and U.S. Junior National Team coach, Moore came to Syracuse after a very successful 11-year tenure at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
