THE SERIES
Thursday's game will be the third meeting between the two schools. Syracuse leads the series, 2-0. Last season, the teams faced each other in Louisville. After the Cardinals jumped out to a 4-1 lead, the Orange came back and defeated Louisville, 16-11.
WEBSTER BACK ON TRACK
After scoring just one goal in a span of three games, freshman Katie Webster has returned to her scoring ways in Syracuse's last three contests. Webster recorded hat tricks in back-to-back games against Connecticut and Notre Dame. She also contributed two goals at Georgetown.
Webster has scored at least one goal in 10 of 12 games this season. She has recorded three or more goals five times in 2011.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse put its two-game winning streak on the line on Saturday, April 16 at Georgetown. The Orange led by two in the second half, but couldn't hold on as it lost in BIG EAST play for the first time this season.
Freshman Katie Webster scored on a low bounce shot that gave Syracuse a 6-5 lead at halftime. The Junior Sarah Holden and Webster scored goals in the first five minutes of the second half to give Syracuse its largest lead of the day at 8-5 with 25:34 to play. Webster's goal would be SU's final goal of the day as Georgetown recorded seven consecutive goals for the 12-8 final.
Freshman Alyssa Murray led the Orange with four points on two goals and two assists.
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
After starting off the season with a 6-0 record, Louisville enters Thursday's game with an overall mark of 10-4. The Cardinals have won two straight games, posting victories against Rutgers and Villanova last weekend.
Senior Bergan Foley is the leading goal scorer in the BIG EAST, averaging 3.86 goals per game. She is the Cardinals' leading scorer with 57 points. Senior Emily Dashiell has set a school record for draw controls in a season in 2011. She recorded five against Villanova and currently has 68 for the season, five more than her total of 63 from 2010.
