Hogan Earns Sport Excellence Award

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Liz Hogan added yet another accolade to her impressive list, earning the 2010-11 BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award for women's lacrosse. The BIG EAST Conference honored the standout goalkeeper as one of the 24 winners of the award, which recognizes academic and athletic achievement as well as community service.
The Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Awards are given to one student-athlete in each BIG EAST sport based on academic credentials, athletic accolades or performances and volunteer service to the community. Student-athletes who have attained junior academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00 are eligible. The winners are chosen by the BIG EAST Faculty Athletics Representative Council.
Hogan finished her career as a four-time All-BIG EAST Selection, a 2010 All-America First Team pick and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year.
During her senior season, she led the league and ranked 12th in the nation in save percentage. The Victor, N.Y. native reached double figures in saves in six games in 2011.
The 2010 IWLCA Goalkeeper of the Year, Hogan is Syracuse's all-time leader in saves (660) and ground balls (181). She also holds the BIG EAST record for saves in conference games with 253.
