SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Orange women's basketball team (13-7, 2-4 BIG EAST) hosts No. 3 Connecticut (17-2, 6-1 BIG EAST) on “Pack the House” night on Wednesday in a 7 p.m. tip at the Carrier Dome. Tickets to see the Orange take on the seven-time National Champs are just $2, powered by National Grid.
• National Girls & Women in Sports Day is also being celebrated Wednesday night with several of the Syracuse women's athletic teams in attendance as well as a special halftime ceremony honoring retired Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Senior Women's Administrator Barbara Henderson for her years of service to Syracuse University and promotion of women's athletics.
• The first 200 students at the game will receive SU basketball pinnies, courtesy of Papa's Sports.

SERIES HISTORY
• This will be the 47th meeting all-time between Syracuse and Connecticut with the Huskies holding a 34-12 edge in the series.
• The Huskies have won the last 20 meetings. SU's last win came on Jan. 2, 1996 at Manley Field House (62-59).
• SU won the first six games of the series, between 1980 and 1986, and nine of the first 12.
• Last season, the Orange fell to the No. 1 Huskies, 82-47, on Feb. 28 at Pampel Pavilion. Iasia Hemingway led SU with 13 points, while Erica Morrow added 11. UConn was led by Maya Moore's 23 points on 11-of-13 shooting.
• The last time the teams met at the Carrier Dome, the top-ranked Huskies won, 87-66, on Feb. 24, 2010. Morrow, Juanita Ward and Elashier Hall all scored 11 for SU. Moore had 38 points and 20 rebounds for UConn.
• SU nearly upset the No. 1 Huskies on Jan. 15, 2008 at the Carrier Dome. An 8-0 Orange run pulled it within two with 1:14 to go, but UConn was able to hold on for a 65-59 victory. Chandrea Jones had 18 points for SU while Moore had 13 points and 17 rebounds for UConn.
SCOUTING UCONN
• The Huskies come into the game 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the BIG EAST. They are ranked No. 3 in both major polls.
• UConn's two losses this season have come on the road, at No. 1 Baylor on Dec. 18 (66-61) and at No. 3 Notre Dame on Jan. 7 (74-67 OT).
• UConn has won five in a row since then, most recently beating No. 21 DePaul on the road, 88-44, on Saturday.
• UConn's leading scorer comes off the bench. Freshman 6-0 forward Mosqueda-Lewis is averaging 14.8 points per game and is shooting 39.4 percent (50-127) from 3-point range.
• Senior guard Tiffany Hayes and sophomore guard Bria Hartley each average 14.7 points per game and shoot well from behind the arc as well at 37.0 percent and 39.3 percent, respectively.
• Geno Auriemma is in his 27th season as head coach. He has led the Huskies to seven National Championships, 12 Final Fours and is 788-126 in his career. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
LAST TIME OUT
• Syracuse scored the final eight points of the game, and withstood a 17-0 Seton Hall (7-13, 0-6) run midway through the second half to escape with a 70-66 win on Sunday at Walsh Gymnasium.
• Kayla Alexander led three Orange in double-figures with 23 points, while Elashier Hall added 14 points and a game-high six assists.
• Down four with a minute to go, Hall hit a 3-pointer with 57 seconds left, and after the press forced a turnover, Hall was fouled with 29 seconds to go. She made the first and Iasia Hemingway got the rebound of the second, scored and was fouled, giving the Orange a 3-point lead on the 3-point play. Shakeya Leary made one of two free throws with a second to go to put SU up four and ice the victory.
DOME SWEET DOME
• Syracuse has a record of 61-27 (.693) in the Carrier Dome since 2006-07. The Orange was nearly unbeatable on its home court last season, posting a 20-2 record in the Dome.
• This season, SU is 7-2 in the Dome.
ALEXANDER HONORED BY CONFERENCE
• Kayla Alexander was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday for her performance in the Orange's road win against Seton Hall, 70-66, on Sunday.
• It is the third BIG EAST weekly honor of the season for the junior center from Milton, Ontario. She received the same award on Nov. 21 and Nov. 28.
• Alexander led all scorers with 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 shooting at the free throw line. She grabbed eight rebounds, seven of which came at the offensive end, leading the Orange's 30-24 advantage in points in the paint and 46-38 edge on the boards.
• Iasia Hemingway recently received the honor two weeks in a row, on Jan. 2 and Jan. 9.
DOMINATING THE GLASS
• Dominant rebounding has become the norm for the Orange in recent years. Syracuse leads the NCAA in rebounding, averaging 49.1 per game and ranks seventh in margin at +12.5 per game.
• In the BIG EAST, SU leads the conference in rebounds per game (49.1), offensive rebounds (22.2) and is second in rebounding margin (+12.5).
• SU has four of the top 20 rebounders in the BIG EAST (7. Carmen Tyson-Thomas, 7.9; 9. Kayla Alexander, 7.7; 14. Iasia Hemingway, 6.8; and 20. Shakeya Leary, 6.5.
• Syracuse led the NCAA in rebounding margin last season at +13.4 per game. SU outrebounded 31 of its 35 opponents.
STRONG AT THE STRIPE
• An aggressive, attacking style of offense results in the Orange ranking second in the NCAA in free throws made (377) and attempted (501).
• Syracuse is second in the BIG EAST in free throw shooting percentage at .752.
• Carmen Tyson-Thomas has the best percentage at the charity stripe in the conference (.900).
• On Jan. 7 at Pitt, The Orange went 34-of-38 (.895) at the line, including Iasia Hemingway setting a school record with 15 free throws in 16 attempts.
ALEXANDER CONTROLS THE POST
• Junior center Kayla Alexander is the Orange's second-leading scorer (15.8 ppg.) and rebounder (7.7 rpg.) this season. She ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in scoring and ninth in rebounding, while leading the conference in blocked shots (51 total, 2.6 per game).
• Alexander is fourth on Syracuse's career blocked shot list with 212. Chris Palombi (1981-84) ranks third with 217.
• Alexander scored a career-high 33 points against Binghamton on Nov. 26, giving her 1,008 points in her career. She becomes the 21st player in program history to score 1,000 points in her career and the first since Erica Morrow accomplished the feat in 2009-10.
• Alexander was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performance in Syracuse's first three games of the season. She averaged 18.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in the three contests.
• Alexander is fourth on SU's career free throws made list at 343. Next up is Julie McBride (2001-04) with 348.
HEMINGWAY SPARKS ORANGE
• Senior Iasia Hemingway has reached double figures in scoring in 16 of 20 games this season and reached the 30-point mark three times. She leads the team in scoring (16.1 ppg), ranking fifth in the BIG EAST, and averages 6.8 rebounds.
• She scored a career-high 33 points, including a school-record 15 free throws in 16 attempts, in a win at Pitt (1/7).
• She set a then-career-high with 31 points to go along with 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season vs. Colgate on Dec. 31.
• Hemingway played the first two years of her career at Georgia Tech before transfering to SU. She has scored 1,392 points in her career, 767 of them wearing Orange.
TYSON-THOMAS MAKES IMPACT
• Junior Carmen Tyson-Thomas ranks third on the team in scoring (11.4 ppg.) and leads the club in rebounding (7.9 rpg) this season.
• She had a streak of three-straight double-doubles (12/29, 12/31, 1/3) and had scored in double figures in five-straight. She has five double-doubles on the season and 14 in her career.
• The versatile swing-player has set career-highs in scoring in twice this season. Tyson-Thomas scored a career-high 21 points in SU's win against Lafayette. She improved on that performance in Syracuse's win against Buffalo, scoring a team-high 23 points. Since then she has posted 22 points against Ohio (12/20).
• She leads the BIG EAST in free throw shooting percentage at .900 (45-50), ranks fourth in offensive rebounds per game (3.6), and seventh in total rebounds per game (7.9).
HALL DISPLAYS ALL-AROUND GAME
• Do-everything junior Elashier Hall has shown her veratility this season, averaging nearly double-figures in scoring at 8.6 points per game to go along with 5.4 rebounds per contest, all while leading the team with 61 assists and is tied for the lead in steals (34).
• Hall had 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and hit a key 3-pointer in the final minute of SU's comeback win at Seton Hall on Sunday.
• Hall led the Orange with 19 points against Oklahoma (12/19), going 11-of-13 from the free throw line.
