SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's rowing team will be taking their talents to Princeton, New Jersey this Sunday, Oct. 28 in a 3-mile head race hosted by Princeton University.
This year, the Princeton Chase, taking place on Lake Carnegie, will hold nine events for both men's and women's crews (including freshman/novice). Men's heavyweight and lightweight eights, women's varsity and open eights, fours and small-boats will all have the opportunity to compete.
The Orange will place seven boats in the races including two varsity eights, three fours and two double sculls. In the first varsity eight boat, senior Kristina Herb will lead as coxswain alongside Anna Kaszycki (stroke), Natalie Mastracci (7), Emma Basher (6), Carmen Failla (5), Rose Aschebrock (4), Maggie McCrudden (3), Alex Zadravec (2) and Holly Johnston (1).
The start of the race will be at the Kingston end of Lake Carnegie and end just before the Washington Road Bridge. The Orange will begin racing at 11:00 AM.
Last weekend at the Head of the Charles the Orange left the Cambridge waters placing sixth out of 20 in the championship women's four. Head Coach Justin Moore's champ 4+ crew of coxswain Kristina Herb and rowers Emma Basher, Carmen Failla, Maggie McCrudden and Alex Zadravec finished its head race in a time of 19:23.40.
