The Syracuse ice hockey team continues its stretch of three weeks on the road when it travels to Union this weekend. The Orange (4-4-0, 2-0-0 CHA) and the Dutchwomen face off on Friday, Nov. 2nd at 7 p.m. They wrap up the series on Saturday, Nov. 3rd at 2 p.m.
Weekend Recap
• The Orange split its weekend at Connecticut, falling to the Huskies, 4-2 on Friday night and bouncing back to shutout the hosts, 2-0, on Saturday.
• On Friday night, UConn scored the first two goals before SU bounced back with tallies by Jacquie Greco and Darkangelo to even up the score in the second frame. The Huskies scored two in the third period, including an empty-netter to take the victory.
• Goals by Shiann Darkangelo and Akane Hosoyamada led Orange to its fourth shutout victory of the season. Goaltender Kallie Billadeau stood strong in net all weekend, recording her fifth career shutout and totaling 32 saves over the two games.
Orange Analysis
•Laurie Kingsbury leads the Orange offense with five goals and four assists. The forward has tallied at least one point in all six games she has played in so far and is on goal scoring streak of three games. Senior forward Holly Carrie-Mattimoe has four goals and four assists. Leading the Orange in assists Caitlin Roach with five. Shiann Darkangelo has five goals and two assists and leads SU in game-winning goals with two.
•Goaltender Kallie Billadeau has totaled three shutouts in four games for a GAA of 0.76 and a save percentage of .964. Her counterpart, Jenesica Drinkwater, has a GAA of 2.96 and a save percentage of .886 and one shutout.

• Most Recent Meeting: Oct. 22, 2011 – SU 5, Union 3
• The Dutchwomen welcome the Orange for its first home game in a month. The Dutchwomen have recorded two wins so far this season against Connecticut, 3-2, and RPI, 3-2. They are 1-0 at home and are coming off of two losses. Union fell to No. 4 Clarkson, 6-0, and St. Lawrence, 6-1, which were conference games.
• Leading the Dutchwomen offense is freshman Courtney Turner with three goals and two assists. Behind her is freshman Jessica Kaminsky, who has notched two goals and two assists so far this season. Between the pipes for Union is Alana Marcinko who has a GAA of 5.62 and a save percentage of .850.
Billadeau: CHA Goaltender of the Month
• Junior goaltender Kallie Billadeau was named the CHA Goaltender of the Month for October.
• She has recorded three shutouts so far this season and has a GAA of 0.76 and a save percentage of .964. She has only allowed three goals in four games.
• Billadeau was honored as the CHA Goaltender of the Week after posting a 4-0 shutout against Quinnipiac.
• Billadeau has a career GAA of 2.90 and a save percentage of .906.
Billadeau Third in the Nation
• Billadeau ranks third in the nation in GAA (0.76) and fourth in the nation in save percentage (.964).
• Her three shutouts have her at second in the nation.
• She leads the CHA in both GAA (0.76) and save percentage (.964).
Four Shutouts an SU Record
• The Orange set a new program record by notching four shutouts so far this season
• The most shutouts that SU has recorded in a single season were three, which was accomplished three different times (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11)
• All four of Syracuse's wins so far this season have been shutouts.
• The Orange shutout Penn State, 4-0 and 6-0, Quinnipiac, 4-0, and blanked UConn, 2-0.
Second Period Strong
• Syracuse has scored 12 of its 25 goals (48%) this season in the second period
• The Orange have scored at least one goal in the second period of every game that they have played in.
• The most goals that they have scored in the second period this season is two, which SU has accomplished four times.
Darkangelo's Scoring Streak
• Sophomore forward Shiann Darkangelo has scored four goals in the past three games.
• She leads the team in game-winning goals with two.
• Her two goal performance against Quinnipiac was her second muli-point game this season.
Hosoyamada Blocks and Scores
• Junior defenseman Akane Hosoyamada has a team-high eight blocks so far this season.
• Hosoyamada has two assists so far this season and scored her first goal of the season at UConn.
Outscoring the Opponents
• So far this season, Syracuse has outscored its opponents, 25-16.
• The Orange leads in even strength goals, 20-9
• The only category in which SU's opponent leads is in powerplay goals, 6-5
Greco's First of the Season
• Senior captain Jacquie Greco notched her first goal of the season at UConn on Friday night
• She has one goal and one assist so far this season
Consistent Scoring
• The Orange have scored at least two goals in every game that they have played
• SU has not been shutout so far this season but has recorded four shutouts.
• The most they have scored in one game is six (at Penn State, 10/14).
Strong until the End
• At Connecticut on Friday, it was the first time SU has let an opponent score more than one goal in the third period.
• UConn notched the game-winner and an empty-netter against the Orange.
• It was the first empty-net goal allowed this season.
• SU has held opponents to zero goals in the third period five times this season.
• The highest amount of shots that SU has allowed in the third period by an opponent is nine (vs. Quinnipiac, 10/19/12)
Sturdy on Saturday
• This weekend at UConn it was the second time that SU has lost a game on Friday and rebounded with a shutout on Saturday.
• Before UConn it happened against Quinnipiac (3-2 overtime loss, 4-0 shutout)
• The Orange is 0-3-0 on Friday and 3-1-0 on Saturdays. They are 1-0-0 on Sunday.
Stopping the Shots
• The Orange held UConn to one shot in the first period on Saturday and only 13 shots overall
• The 13 shots was the least amount of shots SU has held its opponent to in Orange history.
• It was the least amount of shots that SU has limited an offense to so far this season
