SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse women's basketball team (15-11, 4-8 BIG EAST) returns home to the Carrier Dome on Saturday to host Marquette (13-12, 4-8 BIG EAST) in a pivotal BIG EAST game at 2 p.m.
GAME COVERAGE
• The game will be televised as the BIG EAST Game of the Week on the BIG EAST Network with Bob Picozzi and LaChina Robinson on the call. Time Warner Cable Sports and SNY are both carrying the contest.
• The game can be heard live on SU's flagship station ESPN 97.7 FM/1200 AM and on Orange All-Access at SUathletics.com with Brian Higgins '04 and Samantha Berdinka on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on Syracuse's student station, WJPZ 89.1 FM. Live statistics are also available on SUathletics.com.
PLAY 4KAY GAME
• Saturday is Syracuse's Play 4Kay game, a program initiated by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in 2007 to raise breast cancer awareness across campuses, in communities and beyond. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is the official charity of the initiative.
• All fans are encouraged to join the SU players, coaches and staff in wearing pink to the Carrier Dome in support of breast cancer awareness. Those that do will be able to purchase tickets for just $5.

SERIES HISTORY
• This will be the 11th meeting all-time between Syracuse and Marquette with SU leading the series, 6-4. The Orange has won the last four meetings.
• Quentin Hillsman is 4-1 against the Golden Eagles, winning four in a row after a loss in his first season as head coach.
• The Orange came from behind to win last season's matchup, 58-53, at the Al McGuire Center. Kayla Alexander tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds as the Orange dominated the Golden Eagles on the boards, 41-29, and in the paint, 38-26. Iasia Hemingway netted 13 points with a 10 boards while Erica Morrow rounded out the double-digit scorers with 15 points.
• The last time the teams met at the Carrier Dome, on Feb. 6, 2010, Nicole Michael scored a game-high 18 points to lead SU to a 69-60 victory. Carmen Tyson-Thomas scored 14 points off the bench as a freshman.
SCOUTING MARQUETTE
• Marquette enters the contest with a 13-12 overall record and 4-8 mark in the BIG EAST. It has lost two in a row and six of its last seven.
• On Tuesday, the Golden Eagles fell at home to USF, 61-48. Prior to that, they dropped a 71-59 decision at DePaul on Sunday.
• Marquette's last win was on Feb. 4 vs. Pittsburgh (72-48) and also has BIG EAST wins against Seton Hall, Villanova and St. John's.
• Katherine Plouffe is the top scorer and rebounder, averaging 14.1 points and 8.8 boards.
• Freshman Arlesia Morse is the top outside-shooting threat with 40 3s in 125 attempts while averaging 10.9 points. She attended the same high school as SU's Troya Berry, Hamady High in Flint, Mich.
• Gabi Minx is one of the top playmakers in the conference, ranking second in assists at 5.4 per game.
• Terri Mitchell (Duquesne '89) is in her 16th season as head coach. She is 309-183 in her career and has taken the Golden Eagles to seven NCAAs, including last season.
LAST TIME OUT
• Despite a 20-point, 12-rebound effort from Kayla Alexander, Syracuse women's basketball (15-11, 4-8 BIG EAST) lost to hot-shooting No. 20/17 Louisville (18-7, 7-5 BIG EAST), 89-62, on Saturday at the KFC Yum! Center.
• Becky Burke scored a career-high 28 points on a Louisville school-record eight 3-pointers in 15 attempts to lead a Cardinals offense that shot 58.1 percent (18-of-31) from 3-point range to score 54 of its 89 points from behind the arc.
• It was Alexander's sixth double-double of the season and 14th of her career, in addition to her eighth 20+ point game of the season. The junior finished the game with career 1,296 points, passing Beth Record (1,285) for eighth on the Syracuse scoring list.
• Rachel Coffey and Elashier Hall each scored 11 points to give SU three players in double-figures.
• The Orange shot 28 percent in the second half after a 57.1 percent effort in the first 20 minutes to finish the game at 43.4 percent. The Cardinals followed up their 54.5 percent opening half with a 44.8 percent effort in the second to finish at 50 percent overall.
DOMINATING THE GLASS
• Dominant rebounding has become the norm for the Orange in recent years. Syracuse ranks fourth in the NCAA in rebounding, averaging 46.7 per game and ranks eighth in rebounding margin, pulling down an average of +10.4 per game more than its opponents.
• In the BIG EAST, SU leads the conference in rebounds per game (46.7), offensive rebounds (21.0) and is third in rebounding margin (+10.4).
• SU has four of the top 20 rebounders in the league (9. Carmen Tyson-Thomas, 7.5; 10. Kayla Alexander, 7.4; 16. Iasia Hemingway, 6.4; and 17. Shakeya Leary, 6.3.
• Syracuse led the NCAA in rebounding margin last season at +13.4 per game. SU outrebounded 31 of its 35 opponents.
STRONG AT THE STRIPE
• An aggressive, attacking style of offense results in the Orange ranking second in the NCAA in free throws made (465) and fourth in free throws attempted (608).
• Syracuse leads the BIG EAST in free throw shooting percentage at .765.
• Carmen Tyson-Thomas leads the Orange with a .889 mark from the free throw line this season.
• The Orange set a BIG EAST record for most free throws made without in a miss in a game at Providence (1/31) when it went 23-of-23.
• On Jan. 7 at Pitt, The Orange went 34-of-38 (.895) at the line, including Iasia Hemingway setting a school record with 15 free throws in 16 attempts.
DOME SWEET DOME
• Syracuse has a record of 62-30 (.674) in the Carrier Dome since moving there full-time in 2006-07.
• The Orange was nearly unbeatable on its home court last season, posting a 20-2 record in the Dome.
• This season, SU is 8-5 in the Dome.
TWO McDONALD'S ALl-AMERICANS
• Syracuse NLI signees Brianna Butler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Brittney Sykes (Newark, N.J.) were two of 24 high school seniors named 2012 McDonald's All-Americans on Thursday.
• They are the third and fourth SU signees to have garnered the honor, and the first time the Orange has had multiple McDonald's All-Americans in the same class.
• Erica Morrow (2007) and Juanita Ward (2005) are the only other Syracuse players to be named McDonald's All-Americans.
• Connecticut (3), Baylor (2), Duke (2), Notre Dame (2) and Texas A&M (2) were the only other programs with multiple signees named to the teams.
