THE SERIES

The Eagles enter the game with a 1-0 record after a 16-5 victory against Holy Cross on Feb. 17. The two teams haven't met since 2005. In that matchup, the Orange defeated the Eagles 11-4 at home in the Carrier Dome. Former Orange Caitlyn Dragon scored five goals and Monica Joines notched four tallies as No. 12 Syracuse scored 10-straight goals to defeat the Eagles.
ORANGE EARNS PRESEASON HONORS
Syracuse placed three players on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Junior Michelle Tumolo has been unanimously selected as the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year in a vote by BIG EAST coaches. Tumolo earned first-team All-BIG EAST and All-Northeast Region honors last season after leading the team in scoring with 63 points. Her 33 assists were the most for a sophomore in school history. Tumolo ranks 10th on Syracuse's career scoring list with 137 points and is fifth on the all-time assists list with 70.
Tumolo was one of three Syracuse players named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Sophomore Katie Webster finished her freshman campaign with 39 points. She tied for second on the team in goals with 32 to go along with seven assists. Webster also recorded 18 draw controls, 11 ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
Junior Becca Block was named to the team on the defensive side of the ball. Block earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors in 2011 after ranking second on the squad in draw controls (28) and tying for second in caused turnovers (9).
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse junior Michelle Tumolo has been named to the preseason All-America Third Team by Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook.
Tumolo led Syracuse in scoring last season with 63 points on 30 goals and a team-best 33 assists. She was seventh in the BIG EAST in points per game (3.50) and tied for second in the league in game-winning goals (4) in 2011. The junior attacker was an All-BIG EAST First Team selection, as well as an All-Northeast Region First Team honoree.
Last season, Syracuse ended the regular season with a five game win streak and claimed a share of the BIG EAST regular-season title.
