New Balance Collegiate Invitational Results | Hamilton Invitational Results
The Syracuse track and field teams, splitting the squad for the second straight weekend, faced competition at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory in New York City as well as the Hamilton College Invitational. The Orange had five first place finishes overall in addition to numerous BIG EAST qualifying times.
In New York City senior Flings Owusu-Agyapong, after finishing ninth in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash (7.39), improved on her first time with a first place finish in the consolation race at 7.33.
Jarret Eaton continued his torrid pace in the 60-meter hurdles this season, finishing the preliminaries with a time of 7.63 before winning the event for the third straight weekend with a time of 7.54, 0.14 seconds ahead of second place finisher Spencer Adams of Clemson.
Teammate Frank Taylor finished first in the long jump with a leap of 7.26-meters as part of flight four while Will Watson had a jump of 6.83-meters in flight three.
The trio of Darryl White, Jihaad Howard and Nathaniel Mercer dominated the men's 60-meter dash, finishing in fourth (6.97), fifth (6.97) and sixth (6.98), respectively. Holland also competed in the 200-meter dash, finishing first in the consolation race with a time of 21.64.
Sa'De Lewis was the story for the Orange at the Hamilton Invitational, finishing first in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.74, a BIG EAST qualifying time after winning her preliminary heat by nearly 1.5 seconds. Erica Belanger competed in the long jump, finishing at 4.51-meters for a 10th place finish as well as a second place finish overall in the high jump (1.65-meters).
Charma Harris, who finished first in her preliminary heat with a time of 8.17 in the 60-meter dash, went toe-to-toe with Utica's Lauren DeLude in the finals before ultimately finished second at (8.09).
Darren McCluskey would match Lewis' finish in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.28, narrowly defeating Utica's Joe Pruckno. Sham Lewis would also find success at Hamilton with a first place finish in the 60-meter dash (6.94), good for a spot in next month's BIG EAST Indoor Championships.
Tyler McCully battled St. Lawrence's Adam McNicol throughout the 200-meter dash, finishing second in the section and seventh overall with a time of 23.45.
Syracuse will return to the track for the Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. and the Kane Invitational in Ithaca next weekend.
