BOCA RATON, Fla. – Looking to extend its three-game win streak, the Syracuse softball team (13-8) will take part in the FAU Parents' Weekend Tournament in Boca Raton this weekend. SU will play four games in the round robin tournament.
Play begins on Friday, March 16 when the team takes on Jacksonville at 4 p.m. On Saturday, Syracuse will have a rematch against the Dolphins before taking on the host school, Florida Atlantic. Competition will end on Sunday with its second game against the Owls.
Last weekend, the Orange went 4-2 in Clearwater. After winning its first game in the USF Under Armour Invite against Miami (OH), 1-0, the team dropped two to USC Upstate and Boston University. SU then reeled off two consecutive victories against Kennesaw State and Virginia Tech in its final two games at the tournament. Syracuse then scored a 5-0 win against Bradley on Tuesday, March 13.
Senior pitcher Jenna Caira paced the team with four wins, to improve her record to 10-3 on the year. She was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for her performance at the USF Under Armour Invite.
Head coach Leigh Ross notched her 399th career coaching victory against Bradley. With the team's next win, Ross will record her 400th win.
