Kempney Earns National Honor

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Freshman Kailah Kempney was named Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week by Synapse Sports for her performance against Notre Dame and Rutgers. She helped the Orange to a pair of wins, which extended its winning streak to eight games.
Kempney scored five goals against Notre Dame, tying her season high which she set against Boston College in the first game of the season. She also recorded seven draw controls in that game, helping the Orange to a 16-10 victory. She then had a pair of goals and three draw controls in Syracuse's victory against Rutgers.
This season, Kempney has scored at least one goal in every game she has played. She posted 10 draw controls in the opening game against Boston College and seven draw controls against both Northwestern and Notre Dame. She has notched 17 goals, and an assist for 18 points. In addition, she leads the team with 38 draw controls to go along with eight ground balls.
No. 2/2 Syracuse returns to action Saturday, April 14 when it hosts No. 14/11 Georgetown at 2:30 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Admission is free of charge.
