Orange No. 1 in Latest RPI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Syracuse is No. 1 in the latest RPI released by the NCAA on April 17. The Orange jumped ahead of unbeaten Northwestern to take the top spot for the first time in school history.
Syracuse, which is ranked No. 2 in both the coaches and media polls, improved its record to 11-2 and extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 16-9 victory at No. 13/13 Cornell on Tuesday. It's SU's longest winning streak since the 2008 campaign when it won 11 consecutive games. The 2000 squad won 12 in a row, which is the longest winning streak in school history.
This season the Orange, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Gary Gait, has posted two victories against teams ranked in the top five and four wins against teams ranked in the top 10, both of which are program bests. Overall, seven of its 11 victories have come against opponents ranked in the top 20.
Syracuse returns to BIG EAST play this weekend when it goes on the road to face Louisville on Friday, April 20 and Cincinnati on Sunday, April 22.
