Five Earn All-Region First-Team Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Five members of the Syracuse women's lacrosse team have been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Northeast Region First Team. The Orange's honorees include juniors Michelle Tumolo and Becca Block and sophomores Alyssa Costantino, Alyssa Murray and Katie Webster. Syracuse's five first-team selections were the most for any school in the region.
Tumolo leads the Orange in assists (41) and ranks second in points (89) and goals (48). The Tewaaraton Trophy finalist ranks 11th in the nation in total assists and 22nd in assists per game. Tumolo earned the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year award and was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team. Earlier this season, she became the second player in school history to record 200 points and 100 assists in her career.
Block has played a significant role on Syracuse's defense which has held its opponents to less than 10 goals 12 times this season. She leads the team with 31 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers and ranks second with 44 draw controls. In addition, Block has 13 points on eight goals and five assists. She earned the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week award a record five times and was a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection.
Costantino ranks second in the nation in save percentage (.502) and sixth in goals-against average (8.19). She earned All-BIG EAST Second Team accolades after leading the league in both categories. Costantino recorded a career-high 13 saves against Florida in the regular season and followed that performance with 10 against Maryland.
Murray is one of the top scorers in the nation, ranking third in points (100), 10th in goals per game (3.33) and seventh in points per game (4.76). In addition her 70 goals are the second-highest total in the country. Murray was a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team. She tallied four points in the Orange's win against North Carolina in the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals to become the third player in school history to record 100 points in a season.
Webster recorded at least one goal in 20 of 21 games and ranks third on the team in scoring with 53 points. She posted a season-high four goals in Syracuse's win against Notre Dame, and recorded three goals five times. In addition, she recorded a career-high 15 assists this season. Webster was voted to the All-BIG EAST First Team.
The five players are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America team, which will be announced on May 27.
