
Coughlin and Mottershead Named Orange Scholar-Athletes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Alyscha Mottershead (Brampton, Ont.) of the women's soccer team and redshirt freshman Andrew Coughlin (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) of the men's soccer team are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for Sept.24, 2012.
Mottershead has started all nine games for the Orange women's soccer squad in 2012. She has recorded two goals and one assist, tallying 17 shots on goal. She was named to the Black Knight Classic All-Tournament Team. In 2011, Mottershead started all but one game in 2011, totaling two assists.
Mottershead has been a member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in all semesters at SU. She is majoring in psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Coughlin recorded his first career start and first career shutout over the weekend, as the Orange men's soccer team defeated Seton Hall 1-0 in the BIG EAST opener. The redshirt freshman goalkeeper was a member of the SU Athletic Director's Honor Roll in both semesters last year. He is majoring in management in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
Mottershead and the rest of the Orange women's soccer team (5-4-2) will face Seton Hall on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in the SU Soccer Stadium, returning to take on Rutgers at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30th. Coughlin and the men's soccer team (7-2)Â will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29.
