The Syracuse track and field team will travel to Cornell for the Kane Invitational on Saturday, February 9th. The team was originally supposed to compete in the Valentine Invitational at Boston University, but due to Winter Storm Nemo, the meet was cancelled. Freshman Brianna Nerud and graduate student Lauren Penney will travel to the University of Washington for the Husky Classic.
Husky Classic
At the Husky Classic, Nerud will compete in the mile race, while Penney will run in the 3000m run. Penney holds the school record in both the mile (4:37.41) and 3,000m run (9:12.76), while Nerud most recently set the school record for the 1,000m run (2:48.85). Penney broke her own school record in the mile, setting a personal best at the Penn State National Invitational on Jan. 26th. Her PR for the 3,000m is 9:12.14, which she ran at the Columbia Last Chance meet as a junior.

Kane Invitational
- 60-m Hurdles: Amadou Gueye, Trevor Johnson, Darren McCluskey and Donald Pollitt will all compete in the 60-m hurdles along with Sa'De Lewis. Pollitt recorded his PR of 7.88 at the Penn State Nationals in the semifinals. Gueye tied his PR at the Armory Collegiate (7.89). McCluskey ran a time of 8.29 to come in third place at the Armory Collegiate. Lewis tied her PR at the Penn State National wit h a time of 8.62.
- 60-m Dash: Kristina Bugg, Sabrina Cammock, Rachel Johnson and Klarrisa Ricks will race in the 60-m dash. Keyes finished in second place in the Upstate Challenge with a time of 7.77 while Cammock finished fifth in the same race with a time of 7.85.
- 400m/500m Dash: Kim Watterson will run in both the 400m and 500m races while Matt Brinkley and Sean Carney will race in the 500m. Both Brinkley and Carney raced in the Cornell Relays, registering times of 1:07.15 and 1:07.61 respectively.
- 800m: In the 800m run, Joshua Hayman will race for the men, while Molly Malone, Julissa Wilson, Beth Wright and Harron Young will compete for the women. Malone took first in this race at the Upstate Challenge, with a time of 2:14.98. She also holds the school record in this race (2:07.81). Wilson finished the Upstate Challenge in second place with a time of 2:17.40.
- 1000m- Hayman will also compete in the 1000m run for the men while on the women's side, Christina Lipuma, Lauren Pabisch, Elizabeth Reynolds, Corinne Stockmal and Beth Wright will compete. Hayman came in second at the PSU nationals in this race with a time of 2:29.36.
- 1 mile: Corey Dowling, Martin Hehir, Tito Medrano, Robert Molke, Andrew Nelson, Andrew Palmer and Ryan Urie will compete for the Orange in the mile. Urie ran a time of 4:13.26 at the PSU Nationals, coming in 10th place. Maura Linde and Bridget Twomey will compete for the women. At the Upstate Challenge, Linde came in eight (5:11) while Twomey finished in 12th (5:41).
- 3000m – The Orange have a strong field of competitors in the 3000m race. On the men's side, Jon Aziz, Andrew Bennison, Martin Hehir, Reed Kamyszek, Joseph Kush, Dan Lennon, Tito Medrano, Forrest Misenti, Robert Molke, Andrew Palmer, Max Straneva, Ryan Urie and Joseph Whelan will run. Erin Cawley, Alexandra Clinton, Katie Kinkead, Margo Malone, Emily Nist, Sara Pagano, Angelica Peck, Jessie Peterson, Rebecca Skodis, Kimberly Spano, Brenna Symoniak and Shaylyn Tuite will compete for the women.
- Jumps – In the high jump, SU will have Jabari Butler and Erica Belanger compete. Belanger jumped to a fourth place finish at the Cornell Relays (1.60m), while Parker has hit 1.94m in two meets so far this season. Will Watson Mikayla Pearce, Ricks will compete in the long jump, while Pearce will be in the triple jump. Pearce took fifth in the triple jump at the Cornell relays (11.36).
