SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Enrollment is open for the 2013 Syracuse Women's Lacrosse Camps, which will take place in June and July. The Nike Cup Team Tournament runs July 1-4 and the Elite Lacrosse Camp is scheduled for July 26-28.
The Nike Cup Team Tournament and Camp was developed to adapt to the continuously changing recruiting situation for high school athletes. It is very difficult for a college coach to assess a player's talent and ability while attending massive recruiting tournaments. If they are lucky, college coaches watch your team play in one shortened game, and they may see an athlete touch the ball only a few times. They need to make decisions about recruiting athletes based on just a little bit of exposure. The Nike Cup Team Tournament is a completely new way to gain exposure and learn from many of the top college coaches across the nation.
SU head coach Gary Gait has been directing camps for 25 years and has developed the ultimate camp experience for lacrosse players that want to take their game to the next level. He has had hundreds of young players come through his camps and go on to reach their goal of playing lacrosse at the college level. Many have earned high school and NCAA All-America recognition. Coach Gait has also created a unique progression of drills that teaches players how to learn individual and team skills. The camps then allow time for scrimmages and game settings to put those new skills into action.
