The list of postseason honors continues to grow for the Syracuse women's lacrosse team. WomensLax.com has named senior Becca Block its Defender of the Year and freshman Kayla Treanor as the Rookie of the Year. Block, Treanor and junior Alyssa Murray were named to the All-American Team.
Block anchored Syracuse's defense which held its opponents to less than 10 goals in 13 of its last 14 games. She led the team in ground balls (47) and caused turnovers (31). She also recorded a team-high 76 draw controls, which is the second-highest single-season total in school history. Block earned the IWLCA Defender of the Year award and earned IWLCA first-team All-America honors for the second consecutive season.
Treanor became Syracuse's highest scoring freshman in the program's history. She led the team with 71 goals and was second in scoring with 95 points. Her 71 goals rank fourth and her 95 points tie her for seventh on SU's single-season record list. Treanor is the first Orange freshman to earn a spot on the IWLCA All-America First Team. She also earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors and was named the MVP of the BIG EAST Tournament.
Murray led the Orange in points this season with 104 on 64 goals and a team-high 40 assists. She is just the second player in school history to register 100 or more points twice in her career. She also was second on the squad with 30 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. Murray earned IWLCA All-America First Team honors for the second consecutive season and was the BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year
