PISCATAWAY, NJ - Freshman Brianna Nerud, junior Sarah Pagano and sophomore Martin Heir all captured bronze this afternoon at the BIG EAST Championship at Rutgers. Nerud took third in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:16.29. Her time broke the Bauer Track and Field Complex record of 10:24.34. Pagano and Hehir each won the bronze in their respective 10,000m races. Pagano took third place finishing in 34:33.05. Hehir finished in 29:35.52.

In the women's 3000m steeplechase, sophomore Brenna Symoniak finished behind Nerud in fourth place, with an ECAC qualifying time of 10:29.48. In 10th place was sophomore Angelica Peck, who completed the race in 11:18.41.

The Orange had two top-10 finishes in the men's 3000m steeplechase finals. Freshman MJ Erb took fifth place (9:14.65) while junior Joseph Whelan placed seventh (9:15.23).

Jessie Petersen finished in sixth with a time 35:13.14 in the 10,000m run. With her time of 36:28.39, Alexandra Clinton took fourth place. Meredith Speakman (37:18.28) and Kimberly Spano (37:54.12) finished 16th and 17th, respectively.

In the men's 10,000m race, Tito Medrano took a fourth place finish with his time of 29:49.56. Robert Molke (30:01.25) and Reed Kamyszek (30:04.39) finished back-to-back in ninth and 10th place. Andrew Palmer took 17th place after finishing the race in 30:07.79.

The Orange had eight athletes qualify for the finals, which take place tomorrow, in their respective races.Â

In the women's long jump, freshman Mikayla Pearce finished 12th with her jump of 5.87. Will Watson's jump of 7.13m had him in ninth place. Jabari Butler in 12th place after he cleared the bar at 1.94m.

Sophomore Molly Malone's time of 4:23.79 qualified her for the 1500m finals tomorrow. She placed ninth overall. Freshman Margo Malone (4:30.42) and sophomore Beth Wright (4:39.81) also raced in the preliminary round, placing 13th and 21st respectively.

Two of the men qualified for the 1500m finals tomorrow. Freshman Ryan Urie's time of 3:53.69 had him in fifth overall, while Andrew Bennison finished in seventh with a time of 3:54.16. Joel Hubbard placed 26th in the preliminary race with a time of 4:08.29.

SaDe Lewis' seventh place finish in the 100m hurdles qualifies her for the finals as well. Lewis finished the race in 13:53. Both Donald Pollitt (13.77) and Amadou Gueye (13.83) qualified for the 110m finals after finishing back-to-back in second and third. Darren McCluskey finished in 11th place with a time of 14.63.

Freshman Shaina Harrison recorded the third-best time in the 100m dash today at 11.70, qualifying her for the finals. Junior Ashley Keyes (12.03) finished 20th while Sabrina Cammock finished 21st (12.05) in the same race. Freshman Rebecca Robinson finished 12th in the 400m dash with an ECAC-qualifying time of 55.32.

Junior Jaquan Holland qualified for two events this afternoon. In the men's 100m dash, Holland advances to the finals after recording the best time of the afternoon at 10.40. His time of 21.10 in the 200m dash also qualified him for the finals tomorrow.
Colin Reno also raced in the 200m dash, placing 21st with his time of 23.46. Matt Brinkley took a 10th place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.52.Â
