WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman Kayla Treanor tied her career high with seven points to lead No. 5/5 Syracuse to a 14-7 victory against No. 6/6 Georgetown in the championship game of the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Treanor recorded 13 points in the tournament and earned the Most Outstanding Player award.

With the victory, the Orange (16-3) claims its third title and earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. SU has now won 11 consecutive games.

Treanor was joined on the All-Tournament team by senior Becca Block, juniors Alyssa Murray and Natalie Glanell, and sophomores Kailah Kempney and Kelsey Richardson.

Georgetown netted the first two goals of the game to take an early lead. Sophomore Devon Collins put the Orange on the scoreboard and then assisted on Kempney's goal at the 16:38 mark to even the score at 2-2. With the Hoyas leading 3-2, freshman Kelly Cross put her bounce shot in the back of the net off an assist from Treanor, giving SU its first lead and sparking the Orange on a 4-0 scoring run to end the half.

Murray followed Treanor' the scoring run when she started her dodge on the left side of the net and recorded her 55th goal of the year. Treanor capped the run with back-to-back goals that put the Orange up 6-3 at intermission.

Treanor struck first in the second half with a free position goal with 27:06 on the clock. With the goal she became the highest-scoring freshman in school history (78 pts.). Hannah Franklin converted a free position at the 23:00 mark, halting the Hoyas' scoring drought of more than 20 minutes. Junior Katie Webster answered with her first goal of the day, which started a 7-1 scoring run that gave Syracuse its largest lead of the day at 14-5 with 9:26 to play. Kempney and Treanor both had two goals during the offensive outburst. Meghan Farrell found the back of the net twice for Georgetown in the final 6:33 for the 14-7 final.

Treanor tied her career high with six goals, while Kempney finished with a hat trick. Murray added a pair of goals, and Collins and Cross posted two points apiece.

Syracuse outshot Georgetown 30-26 and picked up 25 ground balls to 18 for the Hoyas. Becca Block recorded four draw controls, leading the Orange to a 13-10 advantage in the circle. Richardson and junior Alyssa Costantino recorded three saves apiece as Syracuse held its opponent to less than 10 goals for the 11th consecutive game.
