EUGENE, Or. - Sophomore Donald Pollitt's impressive PR time of 13.53w in the 110m hurdles this afternoon put him in sixth place at the NCAA Championship at Historic Hayward field. With his finish, Pollitt garnered three team points for Syracuse. Pollitt had advanced to the finals of the 110m hurdles after finishing sixth overall in the semifinals on Thursday with a time of 13.55.

This was Pollitt's first appearance at an NCAA Championship meet in his career. This year, Pollitt was the IC4A Champion in the 110m hurdles and captured silver at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championship. In the indoor season, Pollitt was the 60m hurdles BIG EAST Indoor champion. He qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championship by finishing sixth overall at the NCAA East Prelims.

Wayne Davis of Texas A&M captured the national title in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.14. As a team, the Syracuse women tied for 61st place (one point), while the SU men were tied for 57th (three points).

Pollitt was joined by graduate student Lauren Penney and freshman Brianna Nerud as the Syracuse representatives at the NCAA Championship. Penney capped off a record breaking SU career by finishing eighth in the 5000m race with at time of 16:01.09. Penney recorded one point for the Syracuse women's team. As a true freshman, Nerud finished in 17th place in the semifinals of the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:18.16.Â
