Future Orange Shine In Under Armour All-America Classic

Two members of Syracuse women's lacrosse incoming class led the North squad to an 18-16 victory against the South in the Under Armour All-America Classic. Taylor Poplawski (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and Kelsey Youmell (Jordan, N.Y./Jordan-Elbridge) both started for the North in the game played on Saturday, July 6 at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md.
Youmell played stellar defense, causing a turnover and scooping up two ground balls. Poplawski was the top scoring midfielder in the game, recording four goals and one assist. With 15:56 left in the second period, she found the back of the net for the third time, sparking the North on a 7-0 scoring run as it took its largest lead of the game at 17-11. Poplawski tallied her final goal during the run at the 10:17 mark.
The South responded with five consecutive goals to cut the lead to one, but the North posted the final goal of the game with one second remaining for the 18-16 final.
