Orange return to action on Thursday
Following sweeping every singles flight at the Army Invitational, the Syracuse tennis team returns to action this weekend at the ITA Northeast Regionals, hosted by Yale.
'Cuse will get an opportunity to test their skills as the region's best beginning on Thursday.
Freshman Nicole Mitchell – who won her flight of the Army Invitational in her first collegiate appearance -- will kick off the tournament for the Orange in the qualifying portion of the tournament, in hopes of joining five of her teammates in the main draw.
'Cuse will then begin doubles play on Friday, with senior Amanda Rodgers and sophomore Rhiann Newborn teaming up, and sophomore Valeria Salazar senior Komal Safdar as the other pairing.
The main singles draw begins on Saturday, with Rodgers, Newborn Salazar, Safdar and senior Breanna Bachini each taking part.
The event continues until Tuesday in New Haven, Conn.
