Hehir Sets School Record at Penn Nationals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.—The Syracuse track and field team finished competition at the Penn State National Invitational on Saturday evening. Martin Hehir had the first sub-eight minute performance in school history in the men's 3,000-meter run, setting the record at 7:59.40.
On Friday night, Donald Pollitt advanced to the finals of the 60-meter hurdles competition while Shaina Harrison moved on to the finals of the 60-meter dash. Pollitt finished in third overall with a time of 7.89 while Harrison took sixth place (7.46).
In the men's 5,000 meter run, Dan Lennon finished in second place overall with a time of 17:42.15, under two seconds slower than his personal best. Juris Silenieks took third (14:34.57), a personal best. Alexandra Clinton had a third place finish in the women's race, finishing in 17:20.97.
Freshman Colin Bennie finished in third place in the men's mile run with a time of 4:12.28 and Margo Malone finished in seventh place in 4:46.43 in the women's race.
Haley Cutright won the women's 3,000-meter competition with a 9:39.99 finish and Rebecca Robinson finished in fourth place in the women's 200-meter dash (24.69), her best indoor mark in her career.
