SYRACUSE, N.Y. –With one week remaining before the ACC Indoor Championships, the Orange track and field team will split the squad this Saturday at the Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational at South Bend, Ind. and the Cornell Marc Deneault Invitational at Ithaca, N.Y. The Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational will begin at 11 a.m. and the Cornell Marc Deneault Invitational will begin at 10:15 a.m.

Last weekend, the Orange distance squad competed at the Iowa State Classic at Ames, Iowa and the SPIRE Institute Division I Invitational at Geneva, Ohio. At the Iowa State Classic, fifth-year senior Sarah Pagano set the 5,000-meter school record with a time of 16:09.29 to take fifth place. Other performances from the meet included fifth-year senior Robert Molke's tenth place finish in the men's 5,000-meter with a time of 14:00.77 and sophomore Joel Hubbard's 14th place finish in the men's mile with a time of 4:05.27.

At the Spire Institute Division I Invitational, the Orange was led by a first place finish in the men's distance medley relay with a time of 10:05.52. The all-freshman relay team included Shawn Wilson, Paul Lovell, Nick Ryan, and Colin Bennie. Freshman Sydney Leiher and junior Haley Cutright also recorded top-ten finishes in the 1,000-meter finishing in fourth and eighth place, respectively. Leiher's time of 2:49.86 was just over one second shy of the school record.

Last year at the Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational, the women's distance medley relay of Brianna Nerud, Rebecca Robinson, Molly Malone, and Lauren Penney set the school record with a time of 11:07.26 to finish sixth place. The performance ranked 16th place in the NCAA at the conclusion of the 2012 to 2013 season.

The Orange did not compete in the 2013 Cornell Marc Deneault Cornell Invitational.

The Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational is named after former Notre Dame head track and field coach and Canadian Olympian Alex Wilson. The event features one of the most competitive distance medley relay races of the season, qualifying a total of five women's teams and 12 men's teams to last year's NCAA Championship. The meet will be broadcast on FloTrack Pro on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Cornell Marc Deneault Invitational hosts collegiate teams primarily from the Central New York area but allows entry for all individuals.
