SYRACUSE, N.Y.--The Syracuse ice hockey team closes its regular season with a home-and-home weekend with Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. at Ritter Arena in Rochester, N.Y. and Saturday, Feb. 22 at 4 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion in Syracuse, N.Y.
Saturday's home game will also be Senior Day to honor the seven seniors leaving after this season. Brittney Krebs, Margot Scharfe, Kallie Billadeau, Jenesica Drinkwater, Cara Johnson, Sadie St. Germain and Caitlin Roach make up the class of 2014.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• RIT is 14-15-3 on the year and 9-7-2 in College Hockey America play, which currently puts them one point behind the Orange in the conference standings. This series will determine who each team will play in the first round of the CHA playoffs. As of now, Syracuse is set to face Penn State and RIT will play Lindenwood. In order to maintain this scenario, SU cannot lose a game this weekend.
• Melissa Maugeri leads the team in points (25) and assists (16) and has nine goals on the season. She has been responsible for a game-winner and a game-tying goal.
• Kolbee McCrea has 23 points on the season and leads the team with 15 goals, also notching a game-winner and game-tying goal. Celeste Brown is the Tigers' second-leading goal scorer with 10, three of which were game winners and one was a game-tying score.
• Ali Binnington is the main goalie for RIT and has a 10-9-2 record on the season. She has a .934 save percentage and 1.99 GAA. Last time the two team squared off, however, Jetta Rackleff was in net. She has a 3-3-0 record, .880 save percentage and 3.84 GAA.

SU SWEEPS LINDENWOOD
• The Orange won both of its games against Lindenwood last weekend to become third in CHA standings, one point ahead of RIT. On Friday, Syracuse had a dominant 5-2 victory, matching its season-high single game goal total. On Saturday, SU came from behind to take a 2-1 victory due to two goals in the third period.
• Saturday's win was head coach Paul Flanagan's 319th, which bumped him up to the 9th all-time winningest coach in women's college hockey.
• Freshman Larissa Martyniuk scored the most points among the Orange with a goal and two assists. Her 15 points on the season is the second-most among Syracuse rookies and third among conference freshman. She also ranks fifth in defenseman scoring in CHA. Martyniuk was named Rookie of the Week for the performance.
• Jenesica Drinkwater made 29 saves on the weekend and allowed three goals for a .906 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average. With her two wins, Drinkwater improves to 14-4-2 on the season, a .763 save percentage that ranks eighth nationally and second in College Hockey America behind Jessica Dodds, who failed to out-do Drinkwater last weekend.
• Senior Cara Johnson scored the first game-winning goal of her career when she notched an unassisted score in the first period in the 5-2 win on Friday. She also assisted on Sadie St. Germain's third period game-winner in Saturday's 2-1 win.
Â
ORANGE BY NUMBERS
• SU has won 10 games on the road, six at Tennity Ice Pavilion and two at the War Memorial.
• Regardless of this weekend's outcome, the Orange will have a winning record in conference play and in the regular season for just the third time in program history. It is only the second time that both happened in the same season.
• Syracuse wins or ties 80 percent of the time when scoring before its opponent, wins 79 percent of the time when leading after the first period and wins 92 percent of the time when leading after the second period, losing only three when it took a lead after the first 20 minutes and only once when it had an advantage with one period remaining.
• With an active offense, SU rarely loses. The Orange is 13-2-1 when outshooting an opponent and 14-2-2 when it scores three or more goals in a contest. SU has also never lost a game when it holds its opponent to one goal or less.
Â
A CAREER MILESTONE
• After Saturday's 2-1 win against Lindenwood, head coach Paul Flanagan became the ninth all-time winningest women's college hockey coach.
• Last season, Flanagan captured his 300th career win with a 4-1 victory against Lindenwood on Feb. 27, 2013, just the sixth active coach to reach the milestone.
• In his 15th season of coaching, and sixth at SU, Flanagan has a career record of 319-180-41.
• Flanagan holds a record of 89-97-17 in his six seasons at SU.
Â
FRESHMEN PHENOMS
• Rookies Jessica Sibley and Larissa Martyniuk have become stand-out performers for the Orange. Both have been named CHA Rookie of the Week on two occasions.
• Sibley, a forward, has 23 points on the season, the third-most on the team, and the second-most goals will 11. Martyniuk, a defenseman, has 15 points this year on five goals and 11 assists.
• Sibley and Martyniuk are two of the best freshman in CHA, ranking second and third, respectively, in rookie scoring. Martyniuk also ranks fifth overall in defenseman scoring.
• Sibley has recorded two-three point games so far this year, the first in the 5-4 overtime win against RIT and in the 3-1 win over No. 9 RMU.
• Martyniuk led the team in points against Lindenwood last weekend with three off of a goal and two assists. Â
