MANHEIM, Pa. - Syracuse field hockey alum Shannon Taylor recorded a goal in each of the first two games in Team USA's test series against Canada at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pa.
Â
Taylor, a 2008 Syracuse graduate and a member of the US National Team, scored a goal in Monday's 7-0 win over Canada in the first international game played under the domed field at the Spooky Nook complex, one of just two such facilities in the world.
Â
The Midlothian, Va. native tallied another goal in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Canadians, blasting a direct shot off a penalty corner in the 55th minute.
Â
The 2012 Olympian is vying for one of 18 spots on Team USA for the Champions Challenge, which takes place from April 27 to May 4 in Glasgow, Scotland. The World Cup follows that on May 31 through June 15 in The Hague, Netherlands.
Â
Taylor has been a member of the US National Team since 2010. She earned her 100th career cap with Team USA last June and played in the 2012 London Olympics squad. She has consistently been of the US's top scorers since transitioning from the backfield to the forward line.
Â
In just one season playing for the Orange after transferring from Richmond, Taylor became one of the most-decorated players in program history in 2008. The senior had 79 points on 31 goals and 17 assists, including six game-winning goals as she led the Orange to a 22-2 record and the Final Four. She was a finalist for the Honda Broderick Award as well as being named First-Team All-American, BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Player, and First-Team All-BIG EAST.
Â
The four game series vs. Canada continues on Thursday and concludes on Friday. Both games begin at 6 p.m.
