CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The nationally-ranked No. 67 Syracuse women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 13 Miami on Friday, March 21 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The loss was Syracuse's (2-9, 2-4 ACC) first shutout in Atlantic Coast Conference play while the Hurricanes (13-2, 7-0 ACC) remained perfect in league matches.

Miami got things underway, grabbing the doubles point by winning on the first and second courts behind a pair of nationally-ranked duos. Meanwhile, juniors Amanda Rodgers and Komal Safdar jumped out to a 5-0 lead on court three for Syracuse, but the matchup went unfinished as the Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead.

Syracuse was swept in all six singles matches with senior Maddie Kobelt and freshman Rhiann Newborn going head-to-head with top-75 opponents at first and second singles, respectively. Kobelt suffered a 5-7, 2-6 setback to No. 61 Stephanie Wagner and Newborn – playing on the second court for the first time all year – fell to No. 48 Kelsey Laurente, 1-6, 4-6.

The Orange returns home to take on No. 34 Boston College on Sunday, March 23 at 10 a.m. at Drumlins Tennis Center.
