
Track and Field Kicks Off Outdoor Campaign at Georgia Tech

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—After a successful indoor season, the Orange track and field team begins its outdoor campaign this weekend at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. at the George C. Griffin Track. Events are scheduled to start on Friday, Mar. 28 at 6 p.m. with the women's hammer throw and Saturday, Mar. 29 at 10:30 a.m. with the women's shot put.

This past indoor season, the Orange set an unprecedented six school records in their debut season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Senior Donald Pollitt earned USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors after a 12th place finish in the 60-meter hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Pollitt's participation in the event marked the third year in a row that the Orange was represented at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Last year, the Orange did not compete at the Yellow Jacket Invitational.

The Georgia Teach Yellow Jacket Invitational is a collegiate team invitational but not a team scored meet. Other institutions competing include Alabama, Auburn, Chattanooga, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, and Ohio State.
