Orange Wraps Up Regular Season at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Syracuse finished competition at its last meet of the regular season this weekend, competing at the Virginia Challenge on Friday and Saturday. Three Orange set personal records at the race, hosted by fellow ACC member Virginia. Only the distance runners competed, participating in the 1,500-meter and 5,000-meter runs.
Joel Hubbard had the best finish among SU runners, taking third place overall in the 1,500-meter run with a career best time of 3:43.12. Joseph Kush also had a personal best time in the race, finishing in 3:49.39 in 25th place.
In the women's 1,500-meter race, Sydney Leiher took 14th in 4:25.04, the fastest time of her career and the best finish among Orange women. Molly Malone was not far behind, taking 18th with a time of 2:27.62.
Jessie Petersen had the best finish in the women's 5,000-meter, taking 18th with a time of 17:28.52. Reed Kamyszek was the fastest on the men's side, taking 12th in 14:22.28. Kevyn Hoyos finished just behind him in 15th place (14:27.87).
