
Record-Setting Season Concludes at Tewaaraton Banquet

The Syracuse women's lacrosse team enjoyed a record-breaking season in 2014. Two student-athletes who were instrumental in the Orange's success were honored at the 14th annual Tewaaraton Award ceremony on Thursday, May 29. Senior Alyssa Murray and sophomore Kayla Treanor were both finalists for the award, which is given to the top female and male lacrosse player in the nation.
The ceremony was held at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. Maryland's Taylor Cummings was the women's winner, while Lyle and Miles Thompson shared the men's award.
Murray, who was a Tewaaraton Award finalist for the second consecutive year, finished second in the nation in scoring (110 pts.) and was fifth in assists (45). She is the first Syracuse player to record 100 points three times in her career. Murray ends her career ranked second on the Orange's all-time scoring list (358 pts.) and is third in career goals (223) and assists (135). She is the second Syracuse player to record 300 points, 200 goals and 100 assists in her career. Murray earned IWLCA first-team All-America honors for the third consecutive year and was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) First Team as well as the ACC and NCAA All-Tournament teams.
Treanor led the nation in scoring with 117 points and was second in goals with a single-season school record 79. She earned IWLCA All-America First Team honors for the second consecutive year and was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year. In addition, Treanor was named to the ACC and NCAA All-Tournament Teams. She ranks seventh on the school's career scoring list (209 pts.) and is sixth in career goals (148) and is tied for eighth in career assists (61).
