'Cuse Finishes Competition at Three Meets

STANFORD, Calif., ITHACA, N.Y. & PRINCETON, N.J.—The Syracuse track and field team finished competition at three meets this weekend with the distance and middle distance squad splitting between the Stanford Payton Jordan Invitational and the Cornell Outdoor Invitational and the sprinters heading to Princeton for their Elite Meet.
Twelve Syracuse runners set personal records across the three meets and two took first place at Princeton Elite.
Donald Pollitt took gold in the 110-meter hurdles at Princeton, finishing in 13.80 seconds. Rebecca Robinson also won her event, setting a new personal standard of 53.40 in the 400-meter dash, missing the school record by eight-hundredths of a second.
At the same meet, freshman Reggie Morton had a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 7.16 meters and both Ashley Keyes and Jaquan Holland finished third in the 100-meter dash. Amadou Gueye was in second place after the preliminary round of the 110-meter hurdles but did not finish in the finals.
Margo Malone ran her first-ever sub-16 minute time in the 5,000-meter run at Stanford, finishing in 15:59.13. Four other Orange set personal records at the same meet, with Martin Hehir, Joel Hubbard, MJ Erb and Sarah Pagano running their best-ever 1,500-meter times (3:47.19, 3:45.40,3:46.08, and 4:25.93, respectively).
At Cornell, six runners had personal-best finishes, three of which were in the 5,000-meter run. Rebecca Skodis, Shaylyn Tuite and Katherine Fleisher all set new PRs in the event, finishing with times of 17:14.98, 17:41.06, and 17:56.04, respectively. Alexandra Clinton was the team's best finisher in the event, taking fourth place overall in 17:14.40.
Joseph Kush led the way in the men's 1,500-meter run, finishing 3rd overall in 3:52.95. On the women's side, Bridget Twomey set a new career-best, finishing with a time of 4:56.88.
Maya Perry and Elizabeth Reynolds were the final SU runners to set personal records with Perry running the 400-meter dash in 1:07.78 and Reynolds finishing the 800-meter run in 2:17.25.
Darren McCluskey had one of the top finishes for Syracuse at Cornell, taking third in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.54 seconds. Paul Lovell also finished top-five with a fourth place run in the 800-meter (1:56.25).
