Syracuse Splits Weekend Pair With 2-0 Loss To Colonials

PITTSBURGH, Pa.- For the first time this season, the Syracuse women's ice hockey team failed to find the back of the net, splitting the College Hockey America weekend series with Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon, losing by a final score of 2-0.

The loss for Syracuse (4-5-0, 2-1 CHA) was its first in conference play, as Robert Morris (5-4-1, 1-1 CHA) utilized a solid performance from its goaltender Jessica Dodds. The Orange blasted 45 shots, including 22 on target, but Dodds turned every single one aside.

Both sides were held scoreless until the 12:59 mark in the third period when it was RMU's Brittany Howard beating senior netminder Jenn Gilligan on a nifty individual effort. Despite the Orange going on six power plays, Syracuse was unable to put anything past Dodds.

Gilligan 12 saves in net while Dodds finished with 22 in between the pipes. Junior Jessica Sibley led the offensive charge for the Orange with five total shots while seven other Syracuse players tallied two or three shots each.
