SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University football team (3-1) will play its first contest away from the friendly confines of the Carrier Dome when it takes on USF (1-3) on Saturday, Oct. 10. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
The game will airt on the CBS Sports Network and Dave Ryan (pbp), Corey Chavous (analyst), and Lauren Gardner (sideline) have the call.Â
Syracuse and USF are no strangers to one another, as both were members of the BIG EAST Conference from 2005-12. The teams' only meetings came during that span, with USF owning a 6-2 edge in the all-time series. SU won the last meeting, 37-36, in 2012.
In its last game, Syracuse suffered its first loss of the year, losing to No. 8 LSU, 34-24. Quarterback Zack Mahoney tossed three second-half touchdown passes against the Tigers, but the Orange ultimately fell short.
USF lost to Memphis, 24-17, in its most recent contest. The Bulls jumped out to an early 10-0 advantage, but were outscored 24-7 over the remainder of the game.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Since 1990, Syracuse owns an 11-14 overall mark in road openers. Under head coach Scott Shafer, the Orange has split its first road contests the last two seasons.
Syracuse has played six previous games in Tampa, Fla. In addition to its four games at USF, SU won the 1989 and 1992 Hall of Fame Bowls in the city.

SCOUTING THE BULLS
After defeating Florida A&M in its season opener on Sept. 5, USF has suffered three straight losses. In its last outing, USF dropped a 24-17 decision against American Athletic Conference foe Memphis on Oct. 2.
Sophomore running back Marlon Mack ran for 107 yards on 20 carries in the Memphis game. It marked his sixth 100-yard rushing game of his collegiate career. Mack has run for 393 yards on the year.
Sophomore running back D'Ernest Johnson has proven to be one of the Bulls' top weapons in 2015. Johnson currently leads the squad in receptions (14), receiving yards (223), and touchdowns scored (4). He recorded two scores in each of the first two games.
Sophomore quarterback Quinton Flowers has shown the ability to be a dual-threat from behind center. Flowers has thrown for 525 yards and six touchdowns and run for 209 yards and two scores.
THE USF SERIES
Syracuse and USF have met eight times previously. USF won the first five meetings in the series. The Orange has had its say in the most recent pairings against, winning two of the past three matchups, including a thrilling 37-36 decision the last time the two side met.
UP NEXT
Syracuse resumes Atlantic Coast Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 17 when it plays at Virginia for the first time since 2004. Kickoff between the Orange and Cavaliers is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Scott Stadium.
