WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Syracuse University women's rowing team competed at the second event of its fall season on Friday, Oct. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Collegiate Small Boats Challenge. Syracuse recorded five first-place finishes on Mercer Lake.
Â
The Collegiate Small Boats Challenge featured straight pairs, single sculling, and double sculling races. Due to the smaller boat sizes, the Orange was able to send out 11 crews in its second event of the autumn season.
Â
Syracuse earned first-place finishes in the double scull A final, single scull B final, straight pairs A final, straight pairs B final, and straight pairs C final. The team placed second in three races, as well.
Â
The double scull A final was one of the top races of the event. Junior Harriet Taylor and senior Kari Tomeny completed the 2,000-meter course in 7:42.10, defeating Northeastern's crew by more than six seconds to win.
SU will race at Princeton Chase on Sunday in its third event of the fall season. Syracuse will complete its autumn racing next weekend at Cornell.
