SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's ice hockey team will take on local CNY and CHA rival RIT when they travel to the Gene Polisseni Center on Wednesday, Nov. 18th at 7 p.m. The Orange lost its last two contests, but look to rebound against a team they defeated by a score of 7-1 earlier this season.
The game will be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Sports.
Syracuse (5-7-1, 3-1-1) fell to Cornell at War Memorial Arena at the Oncenter this past Saturday by a final of 5-2. The Big Red got off to a hot start, jumping to a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period. Sophomore Stephanie Grossi got the Orange on the board just 11 seconds into the 3rd period and classmate Alysha Burriss capitalized on a power play opportunity with just under 5 minutes remaining, but Cornell answered just 22 seconds later, holding on for the victory.
Syracuse played strong defensively, despite the lopsided score. Cornell recorded just 13 shots during the game, including just a single shot in the second period. Â Grossi dominated in the face-off dot as well, winning 17-24 attempts.
Following the loss, the Orange will take the short trip to Rochester, N.Y. to take on RIT (3-10-0, 0-5-0). The Tigers have lost their past six games, including four losses to CHA opponents.
