
Softball Takes On Clearwater

Syracuse will play eight games in Clearwater, Florida
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Tuesday afternoon the Orange (7-11, 0-3 ACC) will begin a stretch of eight games in six days in Clearwater, Florida. Syracuse's first test is against Pennsylvania at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10.

'Cuse will face Pennsylvania the next day at 3:00 p.m., after a 1:00 p.m., matchup with Yale.

Maine and Toledo are slated for Friday, March 13 at 1:45 and 4:14 p.m. Syracuse will take on two more teams on Saturday, beginning with a 4:15 p.m., contest against Hartford. Saturday's contests will conclude with a 6:30 p.m., game against Tennessee Chattanooga.

An 11:15 a.m., game against Towson will completes the week of tests that await the Orange.

Sunday (March 8, 2015) - 'Cuse vs. Virginia Tech
• Jocelyn Cater struck out five and walked four in six innings of work. She gave up three of four Virginia Tech hits in the final two innings and allowed just two runs in the game. This is the 11th game this season in which she's been charged with two runs or less.
• Despite the loss, Syracuse out-hit the Hokies, 5-4.
• Sammy Fernandez recorded her first career extra base hit with a double to left.
• Sydney O'Hara and Cater each doubled in the game. The two-baggers were O'Hara's third and Cater's second of the season.
• Maddi Doane and Julie Wambold each singled in the game, raising their batting averages to  .267 and .289 respectively.

• Jocelyn Cater threw six innings, striking out 10 while allowing just one walk and two hits. One of which was a game-deciding home run that would jam most hitters.
• Sammy Fernandez reached on an infield single to break up Virginia Tech's no-hitter. The hit was her 20th this season.
Game 2
• Sammy Fernandez recorded her 14th run of the season.
• Corinne Ozanne recorded her 15th RBI of the season on a double and later scored her 11th run of the year.
• Sydney O'Hara helped herself in the first, scoring Ozanne on a single for her seventh RBI of the season.
• Annie Toczynski recorded her first career single.
• Rachel Burkhardt made two key plays in right to hold off the Hokies from scoring and rocketed a single up the middle for her second career hit.
