
Pace Retires From Pro Ranks

Josh Pace '05, a key member of Syracuse's 2003 NCAA Championship squad, has decided to retire from professional basketball at the conclusion of the current American Basketball Association (ABA) season.
A 6-5 guard-forward, Pace has played professionally all around the world since earning his undergraduate degree from Syracuse in 2005.
Pace was not selected in the 2005 NBA Draft but did earn an invitation to play in the NBA Summer League for the Utah Jazz. He did not earn an NBA contract but it 2006 signed with the Nelson Giants of the New Zealand National Basketball League (NBL). He averaged 19.1 points and 6.6 rebounds and was named an NBL All-Star. The following season, Pace was named the league's MVP after helping the Giants to the NBL championship.
He also played for Kouvet in Finland in 2006. The following year, after completing the NBL season, he signed up with the East Kentucky Miners of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). He was a second-team, All-CBA selection after averaging 23.0 points and 7.1 rebounds per outing.
During 2008 he signed with BC Kalev/Cramo in Estonia. He helped the club to the Estonian National Championship and the Estonian National Cup.
In 2009 he returned to the United States to play for the Southeast Texas Mavericks in the ABA. He spent the 2010 and 2011 offseasons with the NBL's Hawke's Bay Hawks. He joined the Manawta Jets in 2012. Pace returned to the Giants the following year before inking a deal with the Townsville Crocodiles. In October of 2013 he was back with the Giants for one more season.
In August of 2014 Pace began what would be his last professional season with Shreveport-Bossier of the ABA. The Mavericks have completed the regular season and will compete in the ABA Championships that begin April 7.
Pace was a four-year letter winner with the Orange and started his junior and senior years. The Orange competed in the NIT in Pace's freshman year before making three consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament.
