Maddi Doane finished the season on fire, catching the eyes of the ACC
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse outfielder Maddi Doane has been named this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, while NC State's Emily Weiman earned ACC Pitcher of the Week honors. Doane's effort in Syracuse's final series of the season led to a three-game sweep of Virginia. In nine at-bats out of the leadoff spot for the Orange she tallied six hits (.667), two doubles, two home runs, three walks, one hit by pitch, six runs scored and seven runs batted in.Â
Â
Doane carried the Syracuse offense out of the leadoff spot in three wins against Virginia over the weekend. Her lone hit in game one was a bases clearing double that was the difference as it gave the Orange a 7-2 lead in what would finish as a 7-4 victory. In game two she was perfect with two singles, two home runs and a walk. Her two homers factored in a facility record as no team has ever hit six home runs in a single game at Skytop Softball Stadium. In the season finale she reached base in two-of-three plate appearances (a double and a walk) and came around to score both times.
Â
The freshman out of Bolingbrook, Illinois started all 46 games for the Orange. The performance this weekend gives her a .312 batting average (a team leading 48 hits in 154 at-bats), 30 RBI and 32 runs scored, 16 doubles, three triples and three home runs. Her power numbers lead to a .513 slugging percentage and her 18 walks on the year contribute to a .395 on-base percentage. She hit .413 (22-51) with runners on, .529 (18-34) with runners in scoring position, .571 (4-7) with the bases loaded, .362 (25-69) as the leadoff, .308 (12-39) with two outs and she recorded 15 two-out RBI.
Â
In conference play she led the team with a .393 batting average (22-56) with 17 RBI and 14 runs scored. Her five doubles, triple and two home runs factor in a .625 slugging percentage and eight walks lead to a .477 on-base percentage. Her batting average jumps to .556 (10-18) with runners on, .571 (8-14) with runners in scoring position, .800 (4-5) with the bases loaded, .423 (11-26) as the leadoff, .400 (6-15) with two outs and knocked in a team leading 10 two-out RBI.
