
Hehir Wins Another ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Honor

Martin Hehir follows up cross country accolade with another in indoor track
For the second-time this year, Martin Hehir has been named ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in a sport.

After first winning the honor during the cross country season by racing to the individual ACC Championship, Hehir again earned the accolade in the indoor track after earning co-Performer of the Meet for taking home his second ACC Championship of the year in the 5k and qualifying for the NCAA Championships during a second-place finish in the 3000-meters.

The award, which recognizes student-athletes for both athletic and academic success. Hehir is studying biology and Spanish language, literature and culture.

The Washingtonville, N.Y. native has been named an All-American in both cross country and indoor track this season and he has already qualified for the NCAA East Regional in the 10k in outdoor track – an event in which he currently owns the top-time nationally this season by nearly three seconds (28:27.70).

A Soladay award nominee student-athlete at 'Cuse, Hehir earned Cross Country MVP, Track MVP, Male Performance of the Year and the cross country team took home Male Team of the Year at Monday's ninth-annual 'Cuse Awards.

Hehir was joined by teammate Colin Bennie on the ACC All-Academic Team. Bennie finished fifth in the men's mile with a time of 4:04.84.

The women's ACC All-Academic Team will be announced later this afternoon.
