SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Four members of the Syracuse women's lacrosse team have been voted to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Northeast Region First Team. Junior Kayla Treanor earns the honor for the third time, while seniors Kailah Kempney and Mallory Vehar and junior Halle Majorana are making their first appearance on the all-region squad. Syracuse's four first-team all-region selections were the highest total by any school in the region.
Â
Treanor leads the team in points (86) and goals (57) and ranks second in assists (29) this season. She was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-ACC performer for the second straight season. Treanor earned the ACC Tournament MVP award after recording two game-winning goals in overtime to lead the Orange to the title. Earlier this season she became the fifth player in school history to score 200 career goals. Treanor needs just two more points to become only the fourth member of the Orange to record 300 career points.
Â
Kempney broke her own single-season school record with 178 draw controls this season. She set the single-game school record with 14 draw controls against Canisius on the opening day of the season. In addition, Kempney ranks fourth on the team in scoring with 45 points. The All-ACC Second Team honoree ranks fourth on the Division I all-time draw controls leader list with 427.
Â
Vehar anchors Syracuse's defense. She leads the team with 24 caused turnovers and ranks second in ground balls (34). Both totals are career highs. Vehar has helped the Orange hold its opponents to less than 10 goals in six games in 2015 and was named to the ACC All-Tournament team.
Â
Majorana has posted career highs in points (84), goals (50) and assists (34) this season. She leads the team in assists and is second in points and goals in her first season with the Orange. Majorana, who was named to the All-ACC First Team, has scored three or more goals in eight games this season.
Â
The group is now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-America team, which will be announced the week of May 18.
