United States takes on Uruguay in FIH semifinals
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Rising senior midfielder Alyssa Manley of the Syracuse University field hockey team and the United States senior national team begins competition at the FIH Hockey World League semifinals on Thursday in Valencia, Spain. The United States will open pool play against Uruguay at 7 a.m. EST.

The United States is matched up with Germany, Ireland, South Africa, and Uruguay in one of the two pools at the FIH Hockey World League semifinals. The top-four teams from pool play advance to the quarterfinals, which begin on Thursday, June 18.

The FIH Hockey World League semifinals serve as a qualifier for the 2016 Summer Olympics. The six of the seven highest placed teams, apart from Brazil and the five continental champions, will qualify for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

A two-time All-American at Syracuse, Manley has made three international caps with the United States senior national team, all coming in 2015. The Lititz, Pa. native made her international debut against Argentina in February and last played against Ireland in May.
