
Fitzpatrick Earns All-America Honors

Eighth All-American rower in program history
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University women's rower Deirdre Fitzpatrick was named to the 2015 Division I Pocock All-America Second Team, as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) on Monday. Fitzpatrick is the eighth member of the Syracuse program to earn All-America honors in history.

Fitzpatrick certainly has reaped in the awards for her performance during the 2015 season. The Chesire, Conn. native earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team and CRCA All-Region 3 First Team accolades. In addition, she was recognized as a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete, one of 12 Syracuse rowers.

With Fitzpatrick collecting All-America honors, it marks the first time since 2003-05 that Syracuse has had an All-American in three consecutive seasons. Natalie Mastracci '13 and Georgia Hamilton were honored as All-American in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Fitzpatrick transferred to Syracuse from USC in the fall of 2014 and made an immediate impact in her first season. Fitzpatrick held a spot in the top Orange boat all season, helping the first varsity eight crew to a third-place finish at the ACC Championship. In addition, she was in the first varsity four boat that was the top collegiate finisher at the Head of the Charles.
