
Chandler and Hillsman at U19 World Championship

Chandler plays for Canada, while Hillsman coaches for the Netherlands
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Incoming freshman forward Julia Chandler and head women's basketball coach Quentin Hillsman are in Chekhov, Russia for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship. The biennial tournament will run from July 18-26.

Chandler, a native of Toronto, Ontario, will play for the Canadian U19 national team, while Hillsman will serve as an assistant coach for the Netherlands U19 squad.

Group play kicks off Saturday morning. The Canadians are paired with Belgium, France, and Mali in Group C. Canada will open play against Mali at 8:15 a.m. EST. The Dutch are in Group A with Argentina, Russia, and Chinese Taipei. The Netherlands will play Argentina at 12:45 p.m. EST.

This is not the first time that Chandler has represented Canada at a world championship event. The forward was on the Canadian U16 national team that placed second at the 2013 FIBA U16 World Championship in Mexico. The following year, Chandler was on the U17 squad that advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Hillsman joins the Netherlands for the fifth time in 2015. The Syracuse head coach first served as an assistant coach for the Dutch in 2011 at the FIBA U18 European Championship. It will mark his second appearance at the FIBA U19 World Championship, coaching the U19 club in 2013 in Lithuania.Â
